Mod Filter is a deep modulation filter for sound design and movement. Sweep a multi-mode filter with two envelopes and two LFOs, then route anything to anything through the built-in modulation matrix. Great for basslines, risers, plucks and evolving pads.

Mod Filter

Install

  1. Download the Mod Filter package from www.mime-time.com.
  2. Copy Mod Filter.vst3 to your VST3 folder:

- Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 - macOS: /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3

  1. Rescan plugins in your DAW and load Mod Filter on any track. It also accepts MIDI

input, so you can trigger envelopes from notes.

  1. A Mod Filter standalone app is also included.

Quick start

  1. Load Mod Filter and choose a preset to hear the engine in action.
  2. In the Filter panel set the mode, cutoff and resonance.
  3. Assign ENV 1 to the filter and dial its amount for a plucky sweep.
  4. Add an LFO and route it to cutoff in the Mod Matrix for continuous motion.
  5. Layer ENV 2 and LFO 2 through the matrix for complex, evolving textures.

Tips

  • Route LFO 2 to LFO 1 rate in the matrix for accelerating/decelerating sweeps.
  • Drive the filter hard and use MIDI-triggered ENV 1 for expressive, playable tones.
  • Small resonance boosts with a slow LFO create classic psy filter movement.
